Ribe is the oldest town in Denmark – in fact in Scandinavia. Ribe played an important role in the history of Denmark e.g. due to its location near the sea and the international trade that entailed. Time went by and the harbour in Ribe became too small and the development of Ribe stopped. This lack of development has turned out as an advantage for Ribe, as many of the medieval houses are preserved and there are today strict regulations on how to build and restore houses in the old part of the town. This give you an unique opportunity to experience how Denmark looked many years ago.

Today Ribe is worth a visit just to see the old city and the atmosphere on the cobblestoned streets. However Ribe is also the entrance to UNESCO World Heritage site The Wadden Sea National Park and is surrounded by beautiful nature which is worth a visit. In Ribe you will find many picturesque houses and places where you can take romantic wedding photos. There a plenty of things to do in Ribe and when you need something to eat there are many restaurants serving traditional Danish food and some restaurants serving more modern Danish food.
